Need help with doggy diagnosis (calling all amateur DU vets)...

My 4 month old pug has a small (approx 1cm) perfectly round BLOOD red spot on his inner back leg (up near his manly parts). It wasn't there earlier in the afternoon, but he was outside in the yard for a long while. (We live in a rural area, if that helps.) It doesn't look like ringworm, as it's solid red, not darker on the outside or raised at all. I'm pretty sure it's a bite of some sort; there looks to be one, possibly 2 holes in it...He's acting totally normal, not limping, nothing.

I've googled as many different combinations of the above info as I can...any thoughts, suggestions? :shrug:

Like I said, he seems to be acting just fine, it's just alarmingly blood red...dunno if I should be panicked and calling the vet or if it's no biggie, y'know? :shrug:

4. Seems like some kind of insect bite.

Have you checked to see if it could be a tick?

5. How big are the holes?

Could be a snakebite, could be a spider bite.

I would say watch it CLOSELY. See if it swells, and watch the dog's behavior.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's probably one of those...it's not a tick, I don't think. I mean, I know fek all from ticks, but wouldn't there like be something sticking out of it if it were?

Your local vet should have a good idea if there are any venomous snakes nearby that might have a bad effect on doggy -- although it might be slow in starting, symptoms are usually pretty pronounced. I don't know if you're in rattlesnake country, but if so here's another good site to visit. :)

Well, there's nothing like that sticking out of it, but the surrounding area looks about like that. Maybe it fell out already?
