I have a new pound puppy!
I recently became a volunteer for off site adoptions from the local humane society..
I already have Albert, have had him for 6 yrs (he was a little pound puppy) and he looks like a mixture of shitzu and everything else (kind of looks like Benji)

I have 3 cats and 2 parrots and fish, so there is a bit of a zoo here..nonetheless, I saw this little girl in one of the cages the other day...

she had just been brought in...by some man who carried her into the shelter by her neck....and said "Take this thing". and dumped her off. (this is what the shelter people told me)

she is 6 months old, a little tiny terrier, and was shaking uncontrollably in the corner of her cage. I doubt she has ever been loved.

I took her. she is sitting behind me now as I type. she is sooooooooooo appreciative and just wont leave my side. she just looks at me like I am the most wonderful creature on earth. she needed love so badly it was palpable.

she is quiet and does not bark. just as sweet as can be.

Albert is not amused, but seems to be grudgingly letting her stay here. he growls (asserting his territory) but also licks her. I time they will get along famously.

She wont leave my side. last night she slept in my bed with Albert and I was relegated to a fetal position in the corner of the bed.

Thats okay.

so many of these little ones just need love.

her name is Lily. she is now in a family.

2. Congratulations!
And thank you for taking this little one in. She obviously needs you. What a sad story her's is.

I do have to say you might be in trouble if you only just "recently became a volunteer for off site adoptions from the local humane society.." and already have been taken in by one of them! Albert better start getting used to sharing.

 and

7. Congrats, Mari...
and thank you for loving little Lily and giving her a good home. Her wounded little heart called out to you and you answered.

I'm really tempted to go by the animal shelter and find me a little house dog, too, but with two cats inside, a dog and nine chickens outside, I doubt my husband would be all that excited about another animal. But I think it would be just grand.

Lucky little thing.
I know YOU will be great with her.
"this thing", huh?

Grrrrrrrrrr....

We live a few blocks from our pound, and I dare NOT enter.
I would want to rescue all of the critters. We have a full house of "foundlings" here already.

17. I am so glad Lily now has a loving home.

I wish more people who should not have animals wouldn't. It is really sad the way some people treat animals as disposable, and get rid of them for wanting attention and affection. :(

Were they expecting silent ornaments? :wtf:

I wish more people who can and could open their hearts to animals would. So many animals need the love, and so do so many people. :(

19. I love people who are kind
to animals. Thank you for saving Albert, and now Lily.

I have a pound doggy too, who followed my husband and me home a year ago at Christmastime. We adore him and he loves us too.

I don't get people who are hateful to animals, or even people who just don't care.
