2. I'm in the middle of writing an essay on Immortal Beloved
I am becoming an expert on Beethoven. Did you know they did an analysis on a lock of his hair and found that he had lead poisoning, which is probably what killed him? Plus, he had NO drugs in his system because he wanted a clear head to compose. That, and the fact that his hearing was impaired from age 33 is astounding. He wrote from intuition and his memory of sound. Incredible.

Thanks for posting these. Syncronicity happening all week with Ludwig.

3. That's a wonderful movie...
That scene in the star filled pond is cinematic brilliance.

4. I bought the new DVD and in addition to the movie, there is a second
version with a talk over by the director. He explains how he wrote that part in and how they filmed it separately from the rest of the footage. They actually filmed it in LA and in the background of the clip, you can see LA's hills. When they brought it to the film editors, they didn't know what in hell to make of it until they put it all together. It is such an astounding image. I cry every god damn time I watch it. I'm crying now writing about it....lol.

5. The CD format was decided upon based on that work.
At least that's what I read. Symphony #9 is 72 minutes long, so that's what they decided the CD format would be. Arguably the greatest piece of music ever written.

6. Wouldn't Beethoven be moved to hear that performance?
