OMG, is that supposed to be an Appalachian accent Brad Pitt is sporting in "Inglorious Basterds"?

I mean, I like the movie so far otherwise, but WOW is that cringeworthy.

/Appalachian-American who knows what it sounds like, and that ain't even close.

1. I haven't seen any of the nominees

I have heard that Morgan Freeman's accent as Mandela in "Invictus" is causing South African audiences to cringe like you did with "Basterds". I love Freeman, but am sorry to learn he missed the mark with the accent.

2. Even great actors can blow it if the dialect coaching ain't up to snuff.

And at least in Pitt's case, it SO wasn't. :blush: Same might be true for Freeman as well, I'm not qualified to judge.

from "Inglorious Basterds"and then it might have been a great movie.
