I remember many years ago Rolling Stone did a feature on him. One of my high school classmates was aghast that a "movie star" would appear in a major magazine looking like he did. Dressed down (think surfer bum), wearing no shoes with his dirty feet on display. He's unpretentious which probably explains why he's been "underrated" for so many, many years.
