One big name that didn't appear in the Oscars 'In Memoriam' tribute to actors and filmmakers lost in the past year was Farrah Fawcett, who died last June of cancer at the age of 62.

The segment is generally dedicated to film stars, and while Farrah was best known for her role on the television series 'Charlie's Angels,' she also lit up the big screen in movies such as 'Man of the House,' 'Dr. T and the Women' and 'The Apostle.'

Also left off the list was Bea Arthur, who died in April at the age of 86.

1. Shameful. Yet they included Michael Jackson.
What movies was he in, exactly?

4. Have you heard of This is It?
Grossed $260,000,000 worldwide last year.

Definitely a bigger movie star than Bea and Farrah combined.

8. No, but in the argument of "Michael Jackson vs Farrah Fawcett" at the Oscars
it makes more sense for them to memorialize him for having the #1 music performance movie of all-time and one that topped the box office 6 months ago and was seen by millions of people....than for them to memorialize Farrah Fawcett that was in a couple of big movies 15-25 years ago.

Hey, I think they should have included her and Bea Arthur and it's ridiculous that they didn't but arguing that she deserves to be there more than Michael Jackson is ridiculous. His groundbreaking work in music videos (short films?) was more than enough for him to have a memorial spot even without This Is It.

13. Sang the theme song to "Ben" which was nominated for Best Song
also performed it at the Oscars, something that was unheard of back then (for whatever bizarre reason).

The "Thriller" video was also considered a "film" & was eligible to be nominated for Best Short Film, although I don't think it was.

5. They were TV actors.
The Oscars only recognize movie actors.

7. Sad fact is they have a set number of slots. Period.
Read an article about the guy who does the list. He personally takes every phone call he gets the weeks after the telecast from complaining relatives.

9. And why was the John Hughes thing so long?
If they only have a certain number of slots for dead people, they could have definitely shortened his tribute.

I think you could even hear Molly Ringwald say to Ferris Beuhler while they were walking offstage, "that was long." and Ferris said, "you think so?" I think they left their mics on.

(I know his real name isn't Ferris but I can't stop laughing about him as Ferris Buelher (sp?) since seeing those clips last night.
