Looked out my living room window this morning. Saw a guy sitting in a truck who doesn't live in the neighborhood, was parked at what I'd call a prime vantage point to see everything going on, and just looked suspicious, looking back and forth, just a little too interested in scanning what was going on. This was at 6:45 AM...no idea how long he'd been there, but I gave him 15 minutes and called the cops.
They showed up 20 minutes later, and an hour and 20 minutes later, they took him away in a squad car. Cop cars came and went, God only know how many calls were made.
Four cop cars showed up altogether...they searched the truck wearing blue rubber gloves. Handed him his jacket, and at that moment I knew they had him for something. He called someone on the cell phone who showed up to drive the truck away as the cops put him in the patrol car and left. It couldn't have been a stolen truck or anything they found from the search because it would have been impounded. They got him for something he did.
Lesson: If you want to sit in a neighborhood where you don't live as the sun's just coming up, "trying not to look suspicious"...you look suspicious. You're rolling the dice on someone picking up the phone, and if they do, and if you're up to something, you will get a nice free ride from our friendly local police department.
