Music Recommendations Thread - a chance for all to participate

Here's how it works. Post a list of artists you like in response to this OP, and then hopefully someone will give recommendations based on that list. Because of DU's loose thread style, there's not going to be a set system - it's just a general sharing of music interest and an informal tone. Try to respond to the last list you see, though this isn't a hard rule.

I'm making my list in the OP, so if you want to recommend any artists to me, just post them in the same post as your own list.

I love a wide range of music. Examples:

I enjoy some big band music, including Frank Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney, Bing Crosby (especially his Christmas songs,) and Bobby Darin

I'm a huge classic rock fan, including The Beatles, Elvis, The Beach Boys, Simon And Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac, CCR, The Who, The Kinks, James Taylor, Dusty Springfield, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Lesley Gore, Shangri-Las, Petula Clark, The Rolling Stones, Ronnie & The Ronettes, Peter, Paul & Mary, The Byrds, etc.

I love Motown & Soul, including The Supremes, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Dusty Springfield, Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, The Four Tops, Sam Cooke, etc.

I'm a pop fan and enjoy Abba, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Kelly Clarkson, Michelle Branch, The Corrs, Pink, Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Hey Monday, Barenaked Ladies, Vanessa Carlton, The Veronicas, The Dollyrots, Avril Lavigne, Kate Voegele, Kay Hanley, Tinted Windows, Lisa Loeb, Leslie Mills, Chris Isaak, Girls Aloud, B-52s, etc. There's a new artist named Matisse that I really like; her single is called "Better Than Her."

Enjoy rock music such as U2, R.E.M., Bruce Springsteen, The Cars, Tom Petty, John Mellencamp, The Bangles, Blondie, The Go-Gos, Pearl Jam, Hole, Veruca Salt, Garbage, Stone Temple Pilots, Jimmy Eat World, Damone, Sinead O'Connor, Cheap Trick, Green Day, Big Star, Sheryl Crow, The Hold Steady, The Gaslight Anthem, The White Stripes, Joan Jett, Alanis Morissette, etc.

I'm also a big fan of singer songwriter/indie such as A Fine Frenzy, The Pierces, Sarah McLachlan, The New Pornographers, Josh Ritter, James McMurtry, David Gray, Cindy Alexander, Anna Nalick, Aimee Mann, Hana Pestle, Brandi Carlile, The Indigo Girls, She & Him, Priscilla Ahn, Rilo Kiley, Butch Walker, Eisley, Eliza Gilkyson, Karmina, Camera Obscura, Tori Amos, Liz Phair, The Weepies, Bonnie McKee, Keren Deberg, Jo Davidson, Abra Moore, Fountains Of Wayne, Stacie Rose, The Like, The Shins, Nina Gordon, The Format, Loreena McKennitt, Enya, The Decemberists, Regina Spektor, etc.

I like some country such as Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Dixie Chicks, Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Sugarland, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Patty Loveless, etc. Good county is rootsy, but reminds me of folk music, and has a good grasp of human emotions.

And alt-country such as Neko Case, Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Kim Richey, Wilco, Kasey Chambers, etc..

I like some modern R&B such as Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Toni Braxton, Anthony Hamilton, Sade, Corrine Bailey Rae, some Usher, etc.

Love classical, too: I know the main composers such as Beetoven, Mozart, Wagner, and Bach.
