Does anyone have info on Japanese tea bowls?

I purchased one in an antique store in San Francisco (Japantown) about 10 years ago. The only information I have, which the clerk included, was Kyushu, Takatori Kiln, late 19th C. I've looked on-line, on and off over the years, but haven't come up with much information.

It's a beautiful piece, bronze color with a sea glaze. I was very much drawn to it - wasn't able to leave the shop without it (despite the price tag!).

Any information would be so cool to have. I'm primarily curious about the pottery traditions.

Started by a Korean in the early 1600s!

Many references in this book that could be worth looking at. A highly esteemed kiln, back in the day, and probably still is. It's still in the hands of the Takatori family.

9. I didn't take a shot of the inside, but it has very similar

coloring, with a little more bronze.

10. beautiful bowl, from the high edges it looks like a winter tea bowl.

the photo makes me want to hold that bowl and admire it more closely. here's a pretty good reference site for Japanese pottery.

...where there are lots of old Japanese tea bowls in a wide range of prices. Very interesting.
