2. Powerful song; too much so to get all the way through
but saved it as a youtube favorite...I'll listen when the sun is shining tomorrow. There are times when the blues hits just a little too close to home, but I have faith that things will look better on a sunny almost-spring afternoon . And I hope that this is just music you like( and it IS great) and not how you're feeling. But if it is, I hope you'll be doing better tomorrow too.

as great a showman as I ever saw in a Chicago blues bar; must have seen him play at least 15 times. He'd be dancing on the tables and partying like it was 1979. (And I don't have to wait till the light of day for this one either. )

23. Only if you liked it...if not, I have no idea who they are, or were
(Band is not together anymore) ...P.S....notice the absolutely disgusted look on the harp player's face after he mangled the end of what had been an at least almost passable harp solo. ( and which may or may not be me depending once again on how lame you thought the harp solo was, not counting the last part of it, which undeniably sucked). Beautiful setting though, que no? The Santa Fe Plaza on a summer evening.

25. I liked that guys harp playing...because I play in the exact same style
and I used to take the train off the rails too lol.
LOVE the plaza. Been too long since I've been there. I was top two for a job based in SF at the beginning of the year, but lost out to a local.

28. Didn't know you were a harp player too.
So you know it wasn't just being modest; I really did kinda fuck the whole thing up at the end there...

31. thanks...kinda egotistical to post it along with the "real" blues artists being posted
but it's late and my defenses are down, and I guess I wanted to share it with a few members of what I hoped would be a sympathetic cyber-audience.

Great cover of one of my favorite ZZ Hill tunes. You sounded fine, we're always our own worst critics.

33. Thanks---but as a pro musician yourself, you know that sometimes you play something
that sounds good to everyone listening , but you know what you were going for and that you didn't pull it off...I need to PM Snowball and apologize for unintentionally semi-hijacking her thread and making it ( again unintentionally) a little too much about me. Like I said, sort of, it was probably an ego-driven mistake to post the video in the first place. Oh well, already done....

34. Oh, I know the drill only too well.
I love to play, but it really didn't become fun until I quit going for perfection and just played to the crowd. Still try to get it right of course, but there are just too many variables live.

As for the thread, I'm betting that Snowball is just fine with a little real life discussion on live music in her Blues thread.

Mike Bloomfield, the guitarist here, went on later that summer to form Electric Flag.

24. My first great role model on the harmonica
And I still have my original vinyl of the Flag's 1st album and still listen to it often all these years later. I may possibly have tried to get the above band that I may or may not have been a part of, to learn Overlovin' You, from that album but although they liked it, they never got around to learning it.
That must have been an amazing experience to have been at the Monterrey Festival. Did get to see Butterfield once at least; with the Better Days Band ( Geoff Muldaur etc)

27. mine too, but the Bear actually gave me my first harp
I was about to post that the guy there in Santa Fe had a very Butterfield quality. It made me think of them and I posted. I met Bob Hite somewhere in Laurel Canyon and I we were both just blazed and somehow he was amused. I kept blathering on about his harp playing and he handed me a Marine Band "A" and smiled.

29. Wow--that's too cool !
the still pictures in the video from about 4:17 to 4:27 are from us opening for what's still called Canned Heat a couple of years ago in Albuquerque.( Photoshopped; we weren't on stage at the same time; we just opened) Original drummer and obviously owns rights to the name. I gotta say, though, they were damn good; pros who knew how to BOOGIE.
