I don't think it's legal anywhere in Canada anymore to have "drink specials" based on the time of day.
That's one of my favourite things about travelling in the US. Easy to turn happy hour into an early dinner/early night. 1/2 priced appies and $2.50 pints? You can be pleasantly wasted and full by 7pm for less than 20 bucks a piece. Nurse another "full price" beer for a bit, and you're in bed by 9pm, ready to get the jump on the next day.

Happy hours are banned in Massachusetts since 1984. And we pleasantly enjoy near-universal care combined with an utter lack of cost controls and punitive behavior towards those that can't afford crappy insurance.
