But then, I own two Guzzis, so by definition I'm a bit out of plumb. I've got some serious hots for the Street Triple, but the insurance costs are three times what I'm paying for two cycles now. I could find a place in my heart for a 1200 GS, though.

11. Which Guzzis?

My husband is seriously thinking about adding a Guzzi. He likes his BMW R1200RT just fine, but now is looking at the Grisi and another model Guzzi. Any advice, experience to pass on?

13. Right now,

a 1984 V65SP and a 2000 Quota. I've also had a couple of others. If your husband likes the RT, then perhaps he'd be pretty happy with a Guzzi Norge. They're great bikes, though dealer support is something of an issue. There are a half dozen really great dealers around who carry Guzzi as their primary brand. They're super easy to work on-setting the valves takes a whole half hour at most.

The Griso is a wonderful machine, and the new 8 valve models get quite a bit of praise. Worth considering would be a used LeMans. Great bikes, and the prices are good right now. I know of one here in Houston at a very reasonable price. I'd jump right on it myself if I had the money to spare, and while my wife is really understanding of my addiction, even good things have limits. :D

There's a board at wildguzzi.com and guzzitech.com where he can get all kinds of information. The Guzzi community is really helpful.

10. It's all about Max

The Stratton family has 2 BMW M/C dealerships in the Northeast. There is an on/off road riding club allied with them, who run in conjunction with Pro Rallies and Hillclimbs, among other wild-ass adventures. #1 son Max Stratton seems to be the lead dog of this bunch - Really good people, glad to help out, have neat bikes (not all BMW), and cool friends.

I don't ride but my husband does, so by association I've been around a lot of bikes. I did suggest he get a BMW last time he was bike shopping, and he did.

Especially if I can get that turbocharged K100 prototype mystery bike I saw roaring up and down the A8 autobahn between Munich and Augsburg in the early 80s, doing over 270 KPH in the rain.

17. Royal Enfield

1967 Interceptor - my first street bike. Shifter was on the right hand side. Weird getting used to.
