No one in my suite at work likes our supervisor. I have tried to be kind to her. Even though she intimidated the hell out of me and slammed the door shut on me in the name of vaunted policy, and has continued to show me just how incompetent a supervisor can be, I have tried to be kind. But I can't do it anymore. Moreover in the last few weeks I've had several conversations with my two suite mates (without divulging any of my own troubles) and I have come to find out that I'm not alone: no one likes her. And not just in our suite. NO ONE under her power (for that is how she treats us) likes her.
But today? Oh, my god.
Some of you will remember that I told of her very inappropriate way of moving fully into my very tiny space at my desk, taking over and leaning up against the desk to talk down to me as I sat in my chair. (That's how she delivered the "you're screwed, it's policy" bullshit speech back in September). That is what she does: she takes your space. I've never known a more insecure person in my life.
Today she took that invasion of space as far as it can possibly go, although not with me. It was my poor suite mate who was victimized.
I heard the supervisor coming from down the hall, so I chose that moment to visit the bathroom. (I don't want to be anywhere NEAR her.) When I got back, my suite mates were in a tizzy and one of them was close to tears. Seems the supervisor had left our suite just before I got back. The deeply upset co-worker said to me "did you hear what I just said to other co-worker?!" I was alarmed at her alarm. I said no, I didn't. "Supervisor just came in here and kissed me on the cheek!"
What the fuck . . . ? Kissed her! In the workplace! Mrs. V. said she's revised her opinion of my supervisor: she no longer thinks she's just incompetent, petty, and insecure. Now she thinks she's clinically nuts.
We all have the same tiny cubicles. The victimized co-worker blocks half the entry space to hers with boxes for the express purpose of trying to ward off the supervisor's intrusions. Didn't work today. Co-worker said she didn't even know supervisor was there until it was too late. Stealth bitch.
Co-worker vented and we commiserated for a few minutes, then co-worker went directly to supervisor's boss's boss's boss.
Can you believe this shit?! And I have to sit across the desk from this woman to receive my review next month. I hope she doesn't expect my respect, because what tiny bit I had went bye-bye this afternoon.
