In no particular order: Sarah McLachlan - Fubling Towards Ecstasy Carol King - Tapestry Natalie Merchant - Tigerlilly Beth Orton - Trailer Park Joni Mitchell - Blue
If female bands are allowed, Bikini Kill - Pussy Whipped would be at the top of the list.

So you're an Armatrading fan too huh? I couldn't choose one album of hers as a favorite. I would have to go with "Classics" which is a compilation of all her best stuff. Joan rocks!

I haven't compiled my faves, but great list - I don't know about the k.d. lang album, though. I think I'd have to include one Joni album. Right now, it would be Ladies Of The Canyon.

Alanis Morrisette - Jagged Little Pill Madonna - Her first album (will always be legendary) Annie Lennox - Medusa (but I also love Bare) Anything by Patsy Cline (she just has a fabulous voice!) Aimee Mann - Big fan, love her stuff on the Magnolia Soundtrack

RIght now it's : Sarah McLachlan Possession Sarah McLachlan Surfacing Norah Jones Come with me Norah Jones Feels Like Home Fiona Apple (her first CD...Can't remember the title)
Sarah is my all time favorite. Especially Possession...Her earlier stuff is her best.
