He is on five of the top ten selling bluegrass albums of all time, playing banjo
His music with Grisman is incredible.

And he appeared uncredited on tons of albums.

Not bad for a guy that had a "problem" with drugs (heroin and coke most specifically)

pretty well for a few years; he was married to my closest friend when I was in grad school in the 90s ... Concrete Blonde heyday.

I have always loved their music. Didn't know Johnette hardly at all, but Jim was a super nice person.
