Michael Bay has pictures of John Malkovich and Frances McDormand in a three way with a goat.
There is no other explanation for this:

http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1634418/story.jhtml

Although story details for "Transformers 3" are under wraps, director Michael Bay has made no secret about some of the actors slated to join the third entry in the action-movie franchise. According to the filmmaker, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich and Ken Jeong are the latest actors embarking on the battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons in the upcoming "Transformers" installment.

"Both amazing actors I've always wanted to work with," Bay wrote of the latest casting additions on his Web site, going on to describe Jeong as a "super funny actor."

Jeong's part is unknown, but Deadline New York reports that McDormand will play "a big role" as a national intelligence director. Malkovich, meanwhile, has signed on to star as the boss of Sam Witwicky, Shia LaBeouf's character in the franchise. Megan Fox reprises her role as Mikaela Banes.

2. Actors of that caliber...
.
...signing on for "Tranformers 3"?!?!?!?
.
You know, one would hope that when you make TEN buttloads of
money during your career, and you have the respect of critics
AND the viewing public, you could afford to maintain some level
of integrity and dignity.
.
I'm such a fucking Pollyandy.

8. I caught a bit on television where all of the stars of that film, interviewed independently,
stated their gratitude at having been able to work on and to be in the most important time-travel hot tub -oriented film of our generation, or of any generation.

13. I can only assume Malkovich regards his participation...
...as some form of postmodern self-mocking ironic performance art commentary on the phenomenon of "auteur" filmmaking. Either that or he's off his face on meth.

As for Frances' decision, the three-way with a goat scenario is as plausible as any.

15. well, a few weeks on Transformers 3 will probably pay more...
than every Coen Brother's movie Frances McDormand has ever been in.

These stars make the big movies so they can afford to do the indie stuff that pays a lot less but gives them opportunities to stretch as actors.

16. Well since Frances McDormand hasn't done anything since 2008's Burn After Reading...
It isn't a surprise. Actors like paychecks too!

18. Great Actors Need To Get Paid Just Like Everybody Else
Transformer movies pay out big money. Hey, John Turturro, one of the best actors to never win an Oscar, was in the first two movies.
