We have been using the longer smart dogs lately.

Good sauerkraut is a wonderful thing.

Yellow mustard is an abomination.

I often like cole slaw on the dogs instead of sauerkraut when looking for something a little sweeter. Or jalapeno slices if I'm going in the other direction of tastes.

7. We USED to get MorningStar Farms veggie dogs but I haven't seen them in about six months.

I think they might have stopped making them. The "tofu pups" blow chunks. I'll try the Smart Dogs.

but the Smart Dogs Jumbo are better received in my family.

The regular ones will do when we run out (we can only get the Jumbo at a Woodman's about 25 miles away). When we were in Toronto, we had wonderful street vegetarian hot dogs (which was a cool enough experience itself) and they think these are the closest to those.

11. Morningstar and Gardenburger both got bought by somebody, I forget.

Anyhow, they're moving a bunch of stuff from one label to the other for no reason I can figure out, so if you can't find your hot dogs they might have done that to them, or it might just be your store dropped them in the reshuffling.

The clearest example is the MorningStar "Chick'n Grillers" - that used to be a Gardenburger product although it did have lemon flavor added to it then.

I have mostly eaten cheap, crappy hot dogs, though I'd like to get vegan - problem is the difference in cost. The vegan dogs I've seen are at least 5 times as expensive as the cheap, crappy ones (which I've stopped eating for health reasons).

I like veggie chili dogs with cheese, or with sauerkraut, fried onions, mustard and ketchup, whatever.

The best veggie dogs have added soy lips and butts and little bits of tofurat in them to make them more authentic.

I make them one of three ways. Actually, I usually make three hot dogs and have one each way.

The first way: chili, shredded cheese and Sabrett red onion sauce.

Way 2: Pace picante sauce, quite possibly the finest hot dog topping no one ever thinks of.

Way 3: brown mustard, pickle relish, sauerkraut and diced Roma tomatoes.

But I'm deadly serious about the Pace. It's like the Sabrett red onion sauce with jalapenos stirred into it.
