My cat, the Pumpkiness
Yesterday, my cat "Pumpkin" and I were having some quality time. I was petting her & telling her she is a lot like I am... sensitive, yet very strong when she has to be. And just about the time I thought we'd connected... really understood each other... and bonded... she bit me! Yep, out of nowhere, she just bit me on the wrist! It really hurt, too.

I'll never understand cats. But I guess that's what makes them so interesting.

1. Probably telling you to stop being so maudlin
Besides, cats know they're absolutely unique and a universe unto themselves. You're just human.

3. That was just her way of saying: "You know, the Egyptians worshipped us as gods.
Would it kill you?"

B-) :P

5. OMG...
.
>> I was petting her & telling her she is a lot like I am <<
.
Never, EVER insinuate that you are anywhere NEAR the equal of a cat.
.
You're lucky she was feeling extremely benevolent yesterday.
.
A cat's love is 51% tolerance and 49% "You're the greatest thing since sliced mouse!"
.
I would suggest never forgetting that again.
.
If you know what's good for mew.

7. She was proving conclusively that you are not alike.
Edited on Thu Mar-25-10 10:44 AM by Demoiselle
If you had her luxuriant fur, that bite would have had little effect. But since you are a vulnerable, mostly hairless creature, it hurt.
She wants to be sure you remember your place.
If you don't, I'd bet that her next "correction" will be even worse.
I've been a cat worshipper for years. It's the only way.

And, (on edit) she is absolutely gorgeous. Those eyes!

8. You? Alot like your cat?

These are cats and as far as they are concerned we are barely even worthy of their presences. If it wasn't for the cruel fate of the gods not providing them with opposible thumbs - they would just abandon us as their pets.

9. Biggest difference?

My cats would've enjoyed the mice I caught for them
with my teeth and deposited as a gift at their feet.

14. Oh, my goodness, Pumpkin is gorgeous!
Those eyes are incredible! And yes, I think that she picked up on the "We are alike" vibe. My male cats have always been more accepting of that premise, the females, not so much. In fact, one of my overladies is looking at me now with a gaze similar to your Pumpkin's - it's definitely dinner time, so I must now prostrate myself in apology for the delay and crawl to the kitchen to perform my duty.

16. Were you petting her someplace near her tail?
Some cats go into almost an "overload" if you pet them near the base of the tail. That may have been her way of letting you know you had been nice to each other long enough.

She IS lovely, btw. Reminds me an awful lot of the late "Tillieyoubitch."

17. my Esther does that
I'll be petting her and she'll be purring like crazy and suddenly she'll just decide she's had enough and bite my wrist. So I just stop and let her calm down a bit and she usually comes right back looking for more attention. Going into "overload" is definitely a good description of what she does.
