Poll question: Do you eat dinner or supper?
What do you call your evening meal?
Some people call it dinner.
Some people call it supper.
What do you call it?

2. I'm from the South...we eat both
Dinner is synonymous with lunch. Especially if you eat it at church, as in "all day singing and dinner on the grounds". :)

Supper is what you eat at night.

5. Well, Dinner = biggest meal of the day
and a lot of Southerns do eat the biggest meal in the afternoon, ergo it's "Dinner."

If you eat little something in the evening, it's supper.

I like eating this way. Helps me control my weight. :D

3. Myself, my family and /or friends eating "informally" ....
I light meal, a casual encounter, have supper. A formal meal or a restaurant meal with a server is dinner.

6. Both
If it's the largest meal of the day we call it dinner. Say we have a noontime Sunday Dinner the next meal (smaller) is called supper.

7. Interesting..
Never thought about this till now, but I eat dinner now. We called it supper when I was a child (if it matters, I'm from the north). I don't know when I started eating dinner. Now I wonder if I ever call it supper. I'll have to pay some attention.

Dinner is the meal in the middle of the day
In the evening you eat supper.
