2. Darkness on the Edge of Town - 30th Anniversary Edition - Sringsteen

Even though its the 32nd Anniversay, the Darkness box set should be coming out soon. If its like the Born to Run box set, its going to have a remastered Darkness, and a CD/DVD of a live show.

4. Stone Temple Pilots

Weiland may be a high-maintenance jerk, but I'm still a sucker for the old STP albums AND the Velvet Revolver stuff.

Rolling Stone tends to go overboard, praising new releases from bands they like, so their enthusiasm over the new album as a "return to form, like they never left" triumph remains to be seen.

5. Yes, not that I disagree with all of those RS ratings, but..

I have heard albums that deserve 5 stars as much as or more than some of their 5-star rated albums do. Hopefully, this album will provide solid, basic rock.

11. Got to find what you like and hunt for it.

There's honestly something for every taste out there now (and then some), but it's not on the radio on tv. The good stuff has to be searched out. Take what you like and use it as a springboard to find similar acts, and then maybe branch out from there. I use band's liner notes sometimes. If they thank a band/artist I'll go and check them out too, and one just leads to another. I've killed entire nights by going to check out a band on Myspace and then just following one of their friends, then one of that band's friends, and so on. Some of it's junk, but some is damn good, and it's always rewarding to come across something new that surprises you. I've discovered a ton of new bands that way alone.

And you know, music goes great with video games. ;)

14. Agreed. When you look at the sheer volume of stuff out there...

you could argue that this could be the greatest period in popular music ever, in terms of creative output. I just don't understand the "there's nothing good out there anymore" mentality.

19. There's never been a better time to be a music fan.

From the amount of stuff out there, to the fact that genres have completely broken down, to far easier access to both the music and the bands themselves (I talk to a lot on a regular basis when I rarely would have before I had that instant access). I get updates on tour info, release info....when I was younger we had to scour zines and wait months just for tiny scraps of info. Hell, I remember tape trading with people in the UK and using REAL mail! :)

You know I'm a pop fan and there's stuff for me there. But I agree - if you look around, there is so much out there! Internet radio is a good start for people. Also satellite radio if you can afford it.

21. It's too late for people like us...it's in the blood.

I started using my allowance at 6 years old to buy 45's of stuff I like, and even before that my father always had music going (he's 67 and gets into Metallica...it's not Deathspell Omega, but I don't want to kill the old guy!). Even at 6 music hit me in a different way than most kids. I'm 42 now and more into it than ever (as Neil Diamond comes up on my Itunes lol...shuffle rules!).

12. Slash has an album coming out next month with lots of guest contributions.

Some of the guests are cool (Dave Grohl, every other original member of GNR except Axl) and others are not (Fergie, Kid Rock). I have tempered my expectations, but Slash is one of my favorite guitarists and a cool dude.

15. I most looking forward to...

Britney's new CD. It originally rumored to be released this summer but I've heard it won't be out until the fall (probably November).

I would like to hear Christina Aguilera's new CD which comes out in June. I'm not a fan of hers but I'm interested in hearing her new music. I've heard there my be a preview of her new single, "Not Myself Tonight" released today. Hopefully this CD is better than her last one.

I loved Michelle Branch's first 2 CDs and want to hear some new music from her. "Sooner or Later" wasn't great but I still want to hear the rest of the CD.

Kelly Clarkson. I think her next CD is suppose to be released late in the year.

Madonna. I haven't heard much about her CD but I think she's suppose to release a CD this year.

Katy Perry: I loved "I Kissed a Girl" and "Hot n Cold" but the rest of her songs were average. She should stick with upbeat songs. Her third single "Thinking of You" was pretty bad.

Avril Lavigne: I think her CD is coming out in June. I didn't like her song "Alice" so hopefully that is not a bad sign for her upcoming CD.

Edit: There is a preview of Christina's new single on her website. It's hard to judge a song from a 20 second preview but I wasn't too impressed.

18. I loved "Sooner Or Later" but that doesn't mean the rest..

of the CD is the same. Really looking forward to it; hope it's not shelved. Record companies seem to care more about money than getting an artist's music out.

Katy Perry is good all around, but there are some songs that are real gems there. Hopefully she can make an even better album. :hi:

the main concern for record companies is money. Since Michelle's CD is already recorded, is seems like it would make sense to just release it. Even if it doesn't do well, at least they get some of their money back.

Add Lady Gaga to my list. I just read she's already recording her next CD and it will be out later in the year.
