My old Maytag seems to be dying. What is a decent washer these days

I have been skimming the internet and the Whirlpool Cabrio seems to be well thought of.
I would like to buy real American. Is there any suggestions.

I'd personally prefer you buy a LG or Samsung believe it or not.......

2. I know. That is one of the big reasons I really don't want to buy Whirlpool

Maytag closed a very productive plant in Galesburg a few years back. Then Whirlpool bought Maytag and closed their original plant. All work was sent to Mexico. So I have a hard time buyng one of those two names for anything. (BTW when I bought my Maytag it was as American as - well- Obama)

It performs well, uses less water than a top-loader and is less expensive than comparable brands. Front-loaders also hold more laundry for the same footprint than top-loaders and the clothes are not as wet when the wash is done.

Which grows mold. I have a couple of friends who are dissatisfied with the front loaders.

I recently bought a GE profile with Infusor (tm) technology. It swirls the clothes gently and does not have a post in the middle. There are three models available, I got the middle one at a scratch 'n' dent price of $488.

A lot of the older ones are really pretty simple to fix. Dryers especially, but washers too have replaceable parts.

Might be a hell of a lot cheaper...

or as with alot of the older models, they're not as energy effecient.

Saving 15-20 bucks a month between water and electric and a new washer pays for itself within 2-3 years.

I'd say it depends on how old the washer is deciding whether or not it's cheaper to fix.
