Pet Rabbit Bites Off Girl's Finger
<snip>

Most see rabbits as cute, fluffy, bouncy animals that can brighten any child's day.

They also have a killer bite.

A 2-year-old St. Charles girl is recuperating today after her pet rabbit bit her last week, severing her right index finger at the knuckle.

Although such injuries by rabbits are very rare, animal experts say the incident points up the need for safety around rabbits, especially with Easter and Peter Cottontail fast approaching.

"We get complacent with them because we think of them like an Easter Bunny thing. They look cute," said Mark Wachner, Saginaw County Animal Care Center director. "But they can be aggressive. They can lay a pretty nasty bite on you, like a giant hamster."

"It's a vicious rabbit with large, sharp, pointy teeth!"

Come on. How could I NOT think about that scene reading this?

4. This is a local story (Saginaw News)
I raised three rabbits over the years. Anybody who thinks they won't bite (and bite HARD) is delusional -- they really aren't a good pet to have around a two-year-old.
John
I cancelled my subscription to the News right after they quoted the Drudge Report to run the Kerry/intern "story" on the front page of the Metro section (how it qualifies as "Metro" eludes me).
I used to work at the Bay City Times under Paul Chaffee, now the editor of the News, so I called him to complain and he said "Well, John, I'm sure you're aware of our reputation for fairness and honesty," to which I replied "I sure am -- I've been reading your rag for 40 years."
He then terminated the phone call. I suspect I'm off his Christmas Card list.
