He told me several times that he didn't like my kind Because I was just too leisurely
It seems that I was busy doing something close to nothing But different than the day before
But that's when I saw her Oooooh, I saw her She walked in through the out door Out door Out door
She wore a raspberry beret The kind you find in a second hand store A raspberry beret If it was warm she wouldn't wear much more

1. An Austin band called The Derailers covered that tune... |
|
...think Buck Owens-style country version of that song. It is AWESOME. It wasn't even listed on the cd track list. If I hadn't been driving and unable to stop the cd player, I might not have heard it.

3. Speaking of Prince covers... |
|
The Asylum Street Spankers (another awesome Austin group) have done rather unusual covers of 1999 and Darling Nikki.
They also do a really fun cover of the B-52s' Dance This Mess Around.
Check them out sometime. They're in Houston tonight, at the Mucky Duck, then next week in PA. I've been impatiently waiting.

2. The Minnesota connection |
|
At last I see the connection between Dylan and Prince.
Some of that could be straight out of "Tangled Up in Blue."

4. "She wore a Greeeeeen Beret... |
|
the kind you find in the Vietnam War."
That's what a friend of mine used to sing jokingly when this song first came out.
Whenever I hear the song I always think of his version... :-)
