To the OP and the only other person who replied...if you're big Doors fans, or even just fascinated by them ( I'm both), I highly recommend Ray Manzarek's autobiography ( of both himself and the band) called, ( what else) Light My Fire.

4. For some reason

the narration was missing from the first 10 to 15 minutes. There was sound but no Johnny Depp. I assume it was some local PBS issue. I was thinking what a weird way to present this but then the narration came on.

5. I watched most of it. Very very cool.

I never saw them as a "protest" band per se, myself, but it was good TV. Rare, that there's good TV and I catch it.
