How do I post pictures of the Boston Protest?

I don't have a digital camera, so I am going to use my sister's scanner. How do I post them on DU? :shrug:

1. Once you have them scanned, they need to be uploaded to a server.

The DUer DK666 has one on his profile. It works well. or, upload them to photobucket.com. Or, maybe some nice DUer has some web space they can let you use.

they allow direct linking to the pics so you can post them to the threads, it's free, and very easy to use.

How do I post pics in threads on DU? I just uploaded some kitty pics to photobucket. Do I just post the URL, or can I post the actual pic?

5. Write the actual url including the file name

For example: http:// photobucket.myfile/picture.jpg (Only, don't put the space after the //)

9. Does DU allow .bmp files?

I thought it was only .jpg and .gif :shrug:

That show you how to convert from bmp to jpg. You have to do it in your files.

And I guess they also have to be .jpg or .gif. When you scan your pictures, have the scanning software save them as .jpg

I tried it with a .bmp and it didn't work.

(the other reason not to use .bmp is they are very large files. .jpg is a compressed format)
