Question about pet groomer tipping - need advice. |
|
The lady I take my dog to be groomed runs her own business.
I have heard you don't tip an owner, but I've always felt you tip for a service, so what does one do with an owner of a service.
I'll tell you what I do after a few answers.
Do you tip the pet groomer for grooming your pet? How much? Even if they are the owner?
Does it matter if they are the owner?

2. I tip my cat's groomer; it's hard to find good ones, so they are well |
|
worth it. My cat is a Persian so it's quite a bit of work to shave her down, and she is always very calm with the groomer. I usually tip a $5 bill.

3. Wow this is news to me. You tip PET groomers like you'd tip your |
|
hairstylist? I don't have my dogs professionally groomed so am not up on dog grooming etiquette.

6. I've never even thought about tipping for having the poochies |
|
groomed.
I pay $30 each; it's a fair price for a good service..
I've never known them to be tipped.

She lives around the corner from me and brings the dog home with her until I get home.
But I don't think whether one owns the service matters.. a tip is a way of thanking someone for their service..I would tip regardless.

8. I Tipped Buddy's Groomer 10% |
|
unless he was particularly uncooperative, and then I'd tip her more. She'd take that stinky old dog and transform him into a sweet smelling adorable mutt; she deserved to get a tip for that magic feat.

I've always wondered where that rule of thumb came from about not tipping the owner of a business.
I have followed this gal to a couple different places over the years to groom my dog because I like her, and I always tip her, so I continue to tip her now that she has her own business.
She deserves it too. She's good to my dog and she's always been good to me.

plus an extra $20 at the holidays - they do a great job and are already less than other groomers.
Ever since reading "Nickle and Dimed", I have increased all my tipping for service providers who do a good job.
