For those who missed it last night: A psychological term to describe Dubya
Here's a standard definition of narcissism that can be found on several different web sites devoted to the disorder. And I'll be damned if it doesn't describe Bush to a T! Of course, it also applies to just about every right-wing pundit in America....

-----------------------------------------

Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is an all-pervasive pattern of
grandiosity (in fantasy or behaviour), need for admiration or adulation
and lack of empathy, usually beginning by early adulthood and present
in various contexts. Five (or more) of the following criteria must be
met:

1. Feels grandiose and self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements
& talents to the point of lying, demands to be recognized as superior
without commensurate achievements).

2. Is obsessed with fantasies of unlimited success, fame, fearsome
power or omnipotence, unequalled brilliance (the cerebral
narcissist), bodily beauty or sexual performance (the somatic
narcissist), or ideal, everlasting, all-conquering love or passion.

3. Firmly convinced that he or she is unique &, being special, can only
be understood by, should only be treated by, or associate with, other
special or unique, or high-status people (or institutions).

4. Requires excessive admiration, adulation, attention & affirmation -
or, failing that, wishes to be feared and to be notorious (narcissistic
supply).

5. Feels entitled. Expects unreasonable or special & favourable
priority treatment. Demands automatic and full compliance with his or
her expectations.

6. Is "interpersonally exploitative", i.e., uses others to achieve his
or her own ends.

7. Devoid of empathy. Is unable or unwilling to identify with or
acknowledge the feelings and needs of others.

8. Constantly envious of others or believes that they feel the same
about him or her.

9. Arrogant, haughty behaviours or attitudes coupled with rage when
frustrated, contradicted, or confronted.

`Most narcissists (75%) are men

------------------------------

Since narcissists tend to become abusive when confronted, the sites
offer advice for those forced to live with them.

4. Here's another professional analysis of Junior and the root causes.
"So, George, how do you feel about your mom and dad?

Psychologist Oliver James analyses the behavior of the American president.

The Guardian

"As the alcoholic George Bush approached his 40th birthday in 1986, he had achieved nothing he could call his own. He was all too aware that none of his educational and professional accomplishments would have occured without his father. He felt so low that he did not care if he lived or died. Taking a friend out for a flight in a Cessna aeroplane, it only became apparent he had not flown one before when they nearly crashed on take-off. Narrowly avoiding stalling a few times, they crash-landed and the friend breathed a sigh of relief - only for Bush to rev up the engine and take off again."

Much more...

5. Most people with psychosis or neurosis are intelligent...
* is not.

He is just a dumb shit placed in high position by puppetmasters - sort of like Richard Dreyfus in "Moon Over Paramore." Or that old Peter Seller's movie - what was it called? Or that Kevin Klein flick with what's-her-face. But they all turned out to be nice guys.

8. Not 'Being There'
One of the greatest. I believe it was 'Prisoner of Zenda" which was a remake of a Ronald Coleman movie, I think.

G.W. Bush - Prisoner of the Neocons. I like that title.
