3. That poster's jokes are not far off
People remembered Roosevelt. When my grandmother had had strokes that enfeebled her mind I would come in the room and she would say "Hi , oops I mean , oops I mean " But if you asked here how she was going to vote she said "for the Democrats" or "For FDR"

4. actually my dad's dad hated FDR
and he was in the machinist's union.
He was sure that FDR LIHOP for Pearl Harbor. My mom's grandfather, however, was a staunch Democrat, according to his obituary.

6. I Showed that to my Mom
She laughed like I had never seen her laugh in ages. The first time she voted was for FDR (1944). My grandmother kept a picture of FDR in her home up to the day she died in 1981.
