Question for computer photo specialists.

I just got a roll of film developed and they included one of those photo CD-ROM discs. I downloaded the photos to my personal file and want to be able to include them in my posts here, and send a pic of me to the Gallery. How do I do that? I tried to copy and paste from my file to the message field at DU, but that didn't work. I've heard that you can type in the URL #. But these photos don't have numbers that I know of. Help please?

1. To post them here, you will need to upload them to a web page.

There are several picture hosting sites out there. Picture Trail is one that I know of.

As for sending the picture to the gallery, contact GregW, and he will give you the e-mail address to send said pictures to. They do not need to be uploaded to a website first. However, remote linking from the Gallery is verboten as that allows bad people access.

2. Yeah, I know. I used to have the link.

GregW and LynneSin are dragging their feet getting the link back to me. I've got the homepage for Comcast, and it has a photo page. If I load my pictures up there, can I move them to the message field at DU?

Almost every ISP allows a certain amount of web storage for free.

4. If you move them to Comcast...

get the URL of the page at Comcast:

http://www.comcast.com/blahblahblah...

add the name of the photo onto the end:

blahblahblah.jpg

and stick it in your post. Voila!

5. Step One

It is highly suggested that before you do anything with your photos be sure they are of manageable size. Photos I take with my digital camera are too big for most web uses as they are. For the web, files should be 72 dpi and no bigger than how you want them to appear. For example, if you envision your photo as 3 inches by 4 inches on the forum, be sure that's what your photo image file says it is. Most of the time the image should be a .jpg.

Upload the photo files to a web page. If you don't have a web page, you can get a free one from FortuneCity or Tripod or other service.

When you've got your image uploaded, right click on the photo on the web. (I'm assuming you have a PC. If you use a Mac, ask somebody else.)

You'll get a pop up window with a menu. One of the menu items will be "properties." Click on that.

The next window will give you a URL of your photo.

To put the image on the forum, use this html code but use < instead of ( or < instead of ( in most places.[br />
