Each year, more people are killed by donkeys than sharks.
I fear Discovery's "Donkey Week" and "Coconut Month" are probably already in the works.

I stopped looking at the Discovery Channel/Network a long time ago. There isn't much left that's interesting. It'd be great if they brought back the medical surgery show "The Operation" but that does require an intelligent audience...

It's the latter for me. I think that those shows about haunted houses succeed for the same reason.
And yes, I love shark week.
