I got to see it over the weekend and was blown away by it. It's a film from Spain and came out late last year. I saw a rather positive review from Roger Ebert and decided to seek it out.
Here's as much as I can say about the premise without giving away too much. A man is about to start his new job as a prison guard and decides to come in a day early to make a good impression with his coworkers. As he takes a tour of the prison's cell blocks, he ends up getting injured and in a matter of moments, a prison riot breaks out. He wakes up minutes later, realizes what happens and realizes he needs to convince the other inmates that he's a new fellow inmate in order to survive.
It is one of the better acted films I've seen as of late, but the movie really shines in how it builds incredible amounts of tension. It's brutal and unflinching and the type of film that sticks with you well after you've seen it.
There doesn't appear to be a Region 1 DVD of the movie available as of yet, but if you get the chance to see this movie, I'd highly recommend it.
