I didn't get to go this year, but I'll probably make my reservations for next year soon.

1. Missed it again this year, too.
It's been awhile. Sometimes I drive over there (it's not that far), but I've flown in four times too, which is itself an adventure.

6. Bring somebody with you. You will need several sets of eyeballs.
The especially fun part is where you get past Ripon and ATC won't let you talk back to them -- it's only "Blue Cessna, rock your wings" and that's the only way you can respond. Then you get to land with one or two other airplanes on the same runway at the same time, long or short, and a flagman hustles your ass off onto the grass ASAP.

I'm surprised they don't have like a dozen midairs a day. It's a zoo.

7. I already have at least one buddy signed on to go
I'm not that intimidated by the prospect of landing there. I figure if they can bring in several thousand and only lose one or two, my odds are pretty good. I'll probably go IFR as far as I can. I've heard you need a reservation well in advance so I'll have to look into that.

2. What a great video. Thank you so much for putting this up.
That was wonderful!

Those DC-3's were amazing and beautiful.

That made my night!

Cheers.

4. Somebody told me how many they had this year but I can't remember
20-30 of them sounds about right. There was also a fully restored DC-7 in an Eastern Airlines configuration.

3. It may be the world's greatest airshow...
but speaking as a local, it is a pain in the ass (give me three months and I will look forward to next years, have to get over the whole can't drive across town, get a seat at a restaurant and all of the bars seem to mysteriously raise drink prices for a week thing first) :toast:

8. With hotels going for $250 per night, you can always rent out a room and make a few bucks
