She called me a hussy(that's being nice), because she thought I was a 'kept-woman'..In reality, I work from home remotely and sometimes my commute is how long it takes me to find my bunny slippers..

She's judging you based on her own emotions rather than upon fact. You are questioning what would/should be your normal neighborly response on her attitude. Don't let others change who you are or how you would handle a situation under normal circumstances.

What the hell, ya only live once. No point in reinforcing the negative, almost always good to reinforce the positive. Plus, you don't know how long she will be your neighbor(or so I assume), so this may be the chance to start to thaw that chill a bit. A good neighbor is (almost) always a good thing.
