Kramer was annoying, George was painful to watch, Jerry was kind of an idiot, Elaine was boring.

3. End-of-century narcissism in a nice, neat little nostalgic package.

The navel gazing and angst over petty and insignificant issues is pretty quaint now. I don't think a show has ever dated itself quite as quickly. It captured its time, though.

I laughed and laughed at every episode, but always felt slightly uneasy. The navel gazing and petty angst (and utter self-absorption of ALL the characters) was hidden in the funny.
Until, of course, the last episode.
Oddly enough, I can't watch Larry David's show. I'm infuriated by his navel gazing and self-absorption.

7. Mostly great for how it laid bare the genre in its (then) current state.

The arc about them creating a sitcom ("Jerry!") was especially good-- first they settle on a story line about someone being sentenced to be Seinfeld's butler and then later on in the arc it folds in on itself and George (having wrecked his father's car) has to be his father's butler.
