Best tomato in the world

I just ate our first tomato of a variety called Mr. Stripey. Best tomato I've ever eaten--mild, sweet, juicy. Can't wait until the next one is ripe.

2. Every time I walk by the garden I quickly pick a handful of cherry tomatoes

New varieties for me too. Decided to try some heirlooms and hope they are good so I can save seeds for next year.

After battling the blight last year, I started all my heirlooms from seed this year. I am still waiting for a ripe tomato. I have huge plants with lots of green ones--- but it annoys me that I am still buying tomatoes at the supermarket!

I also plan on saving the seeds when I do get some ripe ones. :hi:

Or is it that they are heirlooms? Glad to know I am not alone, because I am feeling bad about buying them too. But our day will come.

Our growing season lasts to about mid-October in PA, so I'm sure I'll get some--- one of these days. :hi:

8. I'm in PA too, don't know that I have till mid-October, but I will have

tons of tomatoes before it is over. And any green tomatoes will go in paper bags to ripen before I have a frost. :hi: back.

14. If you have a freezer, you can put the tomatoes

in plastic bags without any prep---right off the plant if you want. And these can be used for cooking. When you take them out of the freezer, the skin will come right off. No work, no canning. And no one ever believes me that it is as easy as that. Just try it with a few if you question this.

22. I made a huge and gorgeous tomato salad last night for dinner. We had heirloom reds, green zebras,

yellow plums, and these super sweet little orange ones. Tossed them with fresh basil, red onion, fresh mozzarella, olive oil, and a little balsamic vinegar. Oh my goodness it was delicious. I'm about to drool just thinking about it.
