I'm one sore motherf*cker.

But the yard and gardens are starting to recover from a year of neglect.

I have mowed, "weed eated," trimed shrubs (heh, I wish), fertilized, sprayed weeds, sown grass and disassembled an old swingset set in concrete....

I'll consider Monday at work a break!

Anyone else have a spring fever case of do things in the yard?

Day three is usually worse. Planted a peach tree and some artichokes. Cut down a big mesquite that was a pain in the ____. 'Bout it for me so far.

2. Oh yeah.

Loosened the soil and sowed grass seed in the parkway. I also mopped off our porch.

A couple of weeks ago I dragged out the entryway mats and hosed 'em down.

8. I'm buyin' a pressure washer to help me with a few of those chores...

3. Put in a mulch garden path, planted bunches of stuff, and

am getting ready to put in a pond with waterfall.

Last weekend, reprehensor and I conquered the half of the yard I haven't gotten to yet, pulling up tons of chickweed and digging up dandelions. Oi!

I feel for ya! Good going!

10. You go, goddess! I'm still trying to figure out a good place/reason for a

pond/fountain. I sprayed a quarter acre of chickweed... I may not have a lawn if the ortho Weed B Gone works...

4. Oh yeah! I got major pains all over my aging body.

I turned 51 on Friday. Been working in the yard all weekend. Ouch! I will most certainly be gimping around at work tomorrow. Lots of young people working under me.....I can hear the snickers now.
But my yard is gonna look great this year!

5. We don't have any grass here.

We don't have ANY grass here. For the first time ever I will not have to mow the freakin' grass. We have NONE. How cool.

7. 82-degrees here in the mountains today. What did I do?

Steamed wall paper. Damn I sick of this painting project. I really need to plow my garden. Really!

9. Pulled weeds and it is early for that in Montana

Crocus we planted are blooming, blue bells, tulips, iris, daffodils are jumping up as is yarrow and blue flax. The 'volunteer' lettuce and spinach is up so it is time to plant some more salad greens.

My back is killing me... milk and magnesium supplements tonight... heating pad, here I come.

what a hoot. The folks around town figure it is proof I am nuts. Working on a more natural meadow look. Tearing up the bad grass on part of the lawn and gonna throw out seeds of flowers which actually like the nasty ground here and don't need the good loam of the raised beds.

Also hoping a friend makes good on his threat to show up with a dump truck load of well aged sheep manure. That stuff is great for the bloomers... and will be a fun way to get even with neighbors who let their dogs run wild and poop in our yard! Heh heh hehe... "Wowzer, momma! What is that smell? Did a badger and a skunk have a duel?"

Wish I could use Vioxx... no medical care and extremely sensitive to many meds anyway. The joints have been hell for a week now. Unusually damp here.

15. getting to be that time

I get my mulch and top soil from from this recycling place.

They only charge a $5 loading fee.

16. Yikes! and I thought I was hurting.

Three days digging out a 18 cu. ft. bed, lining it with gopher wire and dumping seven cu. ft. of dirt into and then I gave up. Tommorrow the other 20 cu. ft. will go in and create a raised bed above it as well. I still have to carry 15 cu. ft. of dirt in because I have no wheel barrow access. But when it's done I can plant.:-)

But this is only the beginning. :cry:

20. I'm ready for dirt digging

This would have been a great weekend for it too, but we had our county Democratic convention in Austin and I had to go to that on Saturday. We also had our yearly garden festival in Zilker park this weekend so I went to that on Sunday. It was such beautiful weather here. Got lots of inspiration.

Anyway congratulations on your great start Billy_Pilgrim, may your hard work be rewarded with many wonderful moments appreciating your garden and yard.

I love dirt. And that soreness feels good after awhile. It's the badge of accomplishment. Wear it proudly.

21. I think that we all should have a Spring Break to get all this out of our

ystems and make the world a little prettier.

22. I'm ready to get out and work

but the weather out here was crap all weekend. Foggy, windy, and 40s. I look at my yard and can't wait to get out there and work on the lawn.

Instead I cleaned out the basement yesterday.
