I rented the "Lovely Bones" the movie. I had avoided renting it because of the topic. It was as

have read 15 years ago that I just read now because the timing wasn't right and the feelings were too raw to put it mildly. There truly is no point in re-traumatizing ourselves.

..but in 1995, a friend of mine was murdered, and the killers were never formally brought to justice (the cops have said the prime suspect is dead and his sidekick is in prison on unrelated charges). After that time, I just couldn't get into cop shows, murder mysteries, etc. Like you said, too close to home.

with the detective investigating the crime? And then she took off for years and left the other kids to fend for themselves while the dad slowly went bonkers.

What I really had trouble believing is that the killer built this elaborate den in the middle of a bare cornfield in the middle of town with kids traipsing through it all the time and no one noticed?

didn't want to let go. In the end she wanted them all to move on.

I did see it as about coming to an understanding of the fragility of people and reaching a certain amount of forgiveness. But not sticking together no matter what. Not even close.

It could just be that I am a really sensitive person who has relationships with people not in my life...I run through emotions just thinking of people who are outta my life. That could have affected why I enjoyed the movie so much. It really spoke to me.
