I rescued the last 10 years of a man's business records today.
He's a one man limousine service. He's been using this old DOS limo management program for many years, but this week it suddenly decided to expire and lock him out. Nobody knew how to get access to his client list and records (except the company who originally made the program, and they'd retired it years ago and only wanted to sell him a very expensive Windoze upgrade.) Since he's retiring in another year or two he didn't want to invest in such a heavy expense if he didn't have to.

So I simply pulled the hard drive, copied the database file from the program directory, and in about five minutes I discovered Excel would open and read the file perfectly.

Damn, I'm good.

What did YOU do today?

Well, dayum, baby. You ARE good.

I'll bet he's really grateful, too.

You just saved him a world of trouble...

Me?

Wrote/revised some poems. That's all...

My newest one is down the page...

5. I modified INI files for SATA drivers, and injected them into my WinPE boot image
So now I can reimage laptops without changing the BIOS to IDE compatibility mode :)

8. It never occurred to me to do that
I have PE boot images on CD, but I use my WinPE image via a PXE server...I just found a program which should set up the image on a flash drive, great idea - thanks! :hi:

You're the man, pn#6. :)

Now me, what I did was figure out a way to organize literally hundreds of spices and herbs of a gourmand. I did this in a way that it used a fraction of the space of the earlier setup.

Alphabetically, too.

When I gave his data back to him this afternoon and showed him how to access it and read it he promptly forbade me from retiring before him.
