3. A fine actor and a very, very funny man...

In an interview, Ustinov once described how it was to work with Olivier in "Spartacus." It was an absolute riot, and he included a dead-on impression of Sir Larry.

This man will be deeply missed.

7. I saw that on the PBS retrospective of Jack Paar, "I Kid You Not".

Ustinov was quite a raconteur and wit. What a loss.

5. A long, well-lived life.

When I lived near Geneva, I used to see him on Swiss TV. It was amazing; the guy spoke fluent French and German and was witty in both! The closest we've got in the current generation would probably be Stephen Fry.

His album, "Grand Prix of Gibralter", is one of the greatest things I've ever heard. If you're a racing fan you should try and find it.

8. How sad

We have lost a wonderful actor, director and producer. My thoughts, prayers, condolences and sympathies to all who knew and loved him.

As a side note, Peter Ustinov was the TV interviewer that Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was on her way to meet when she was assassinated by her two bodyguards

10. "Blackbeard's Ghost" is the first thing I remember with him

I loved him a lot. I had the album with all the dialog on it from the movie.

What a magnificent voice, full of inflections and intonations. He's the first actor I remember appreciating for his craft.
