Can't even remember if it's been 3 or 4 years since I quit smoking.

And I still want to smoke. My husband's out of town for a few days, and my first thought after he left was, "I could go get a pack and he wouldn't know!"
I didn't, and I won't, but I sure damn want to. Everything that's fun causes some kind of disease or physical malady. What a cruel joke.

I don't think it will ever go away, honestly. When I started as a teenager, I just figured I'd quit when it was time, and after awhile it would be easy to be a non-smoker. Hah! The one thing I appreciate about the habit is that it actually kept me from some of the really bad stuff. Even as a kid I could tell how much the addiction sucked me in, and that prevented me from doing most of the heavy drugs.

2. Every once in a while I think....

man I could have one smoke and that would be soooooooooooooooooooooo good.

But I know thing will go just like they always have, the next day I will be puffing down on a pack or two a day...

I have quit about five times now, and started about five times...

When I quit, it was such a horrible experience, that it's one of the things that keeps me from touching a smoke again... the knowledge that I'd get sucked right back in and have to go through that hell again. It's just not worth it...

I was 43....

And I promised myself that I can take it up again
when I'm 65.

I look forward to sitting on a porch somewhere,
dragging away, shocking those around me with my
temporary good health!

All we can do is one day at a time. Today I didn't smoke, drink, or whatever. I'll deal with tomorrow when it gets here.

8. I quit 2 years ago and I think smoking is disgusting. The reason why? Because I smoked herbal

cigarettes at the end and now that yucky sensation is all I feel when I see people smoking or think about it. I also took champix/chantix which separates the act of smoking from the pleasure centers of the brain. I count my lucky stars I had an easy quit.

Don't you just love being quit? I mean aren't you proud? I bet you are.

10. It's been 25 years for me. And the desire to smoke does go away.

And for me it has never come close to coming back.
But I never quit for someone else. The only way to do it is for yourself, and it is one of the best things you can ever give yourself.
But my attitude about cigarettes did change. I have come to hate them. And see them as one of the most useless things on this earth.
Other than to keep the tobacco corps in high style.
