Mitch and Logan were just two souls on this planet who were unrelated by friendship or blood. Until that warm August day, that is.
Mitch was walking back to his workplace on 76th street in New York City, sweating profusely as he moved. The heat was getting to him, and he was not paying attention to much of anything. Not that he would have noticed the construction scaffold that was falling from the 39th floor of the building he was walking by. Not that he would have noticed that it was about to crush him.
Logan was a full 30 feet away from Mitch when he saw the scaffold begin to fall. He ran toward Mitch in what seemed like slow motion. He reached him just before the scaffold crushed him and pushed him out of the way unharmed.
Unfortunately, Logan did not do as well. The scaffold trapped him instead, leaving him in the hospital for 4 weeks.
To show his appreciation for Logan's life saving gesture, his new friend Mitch visited him every day, and helped him mend both physically and emotionally.
When Logan was released from the hospital, Mitch visited him at his home and told him that there was something he needed to discuss with him.
With a curious half-smile, Logan asked "What is it, Mitch"?
Mitch replied "Logan, this is the last day you will see me. I cannot be your friend anymore".
"Why not"? Logan simply replied.
Mitch said "Logan, I don't know how to say this, but you smell".
"What do you mean"? replied Logan.
"You stink...I mean...you really fucking stink".
Flabbergasted, Logan replied, "But Mitch, I saved your life and I sacrificed my body for you. How can you say that"?
"Well Logan, I know you saved my life, but imagine you had a dog, and you rubbed some old moldy Limburger cheese on your dog's ass. Then, a skunk sprayed your dog directly in the ass. Logan, you smell like your dog's ass would. I can't be friends with you anymore. Goodbye".
