Residents on South Park Avenue are safe but shaken up after an intoxicated driver crashed into two houses.
The driver, a 21-year-old Marian College student from Illinois, received minor injuries in the crash just before 1 a.m. Friday that left two houses and a boat and a trailer damaged. Alcohol and excessive speed were factors in the crash, said Fond du Lac Police Capt. Kevin Lemke.
The driver was cited for operating while intoxicated and driving at an unreasonable or imprudent speed. He was taken to St. Agnes Hospital where he was treated for minor cuts and scrapes and later released.

Karen Westphal said she heard a loud crash and then the sound of glass shattering. She said she had to crawl out of her bedroom, which was across from the bedroom hit by the car, because the door frames inside the house had been pushed together, preventing her from opening her door.
Her daughter, Jennifer Raasch, and 4-year-old granddaughter, Cheyanna, slept through the entire incident in another bedroom.
“I thought it was a dream,” Raasch said. “My mom came in and said ‘I think there’s a car in the bedroom.’”
