Here is the author of the tune, John D. Loudermilk, in 1984 on the BBC. Truly one of the best Nashville songwriters ever.

It eventually ended up on this CD:



It's a pretty undistinguished version, which is surprising, because on their first few albums, The Raiders built their reputation on hot cover versions of songs like this.

2. Sloppy. Noisy. I used to do a Moody Blues type version. Clean,

clear, tight. That's the way that song should be done.

The version on this album filled a whole side (back in the vinyl days):



But it's like any other classic rock / blues / R&B track, all a matter of personal taste.

Thanks for posting it. I watched these shows way back in the '70s when they were first broadcast, but I don't remember some of them. This one I should have remembered!
