Allman Brothers live in the early 70s I think.

1. The Allmans were my 2nd concert
I think it was early 71, I was almost 14.

Duane died that fall.

2. Duane, even at his young age, was one of the all-time greats
I wish I had more music to know him by.

I posted this song because it fits the way I've been feeling lately. That chorus, I mean, just sums it up really nice. That's also a killer jam. It was recorded at the Fillmore, but I don't think it's the famous, live album version.

9. Have you ever heard the Duane Allman Anthologies?
Mostly his session work (his solo on Boz Scaggs "Can You Loan Me A Dime" is breathtaking") and some ABB outakes. Great stuff and well worth a listen. But he owns IMHO, the Layla album out from under Clapton.

7. I figured out the date.
Edited on Mon Aug-30-10 05:21 PM by Mendocino
The Allman brothers at the Eastown Theater in Detroit, February 27 1971. This was about a month before the Fillmore concerts.

Duane was by far the best guitarist I ever saw. And I saw Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana, Muddy Waters, Clapton, SRV, Pete Townshend, Buddy Guy, Keith Richards, Robbie Robertson and Robin Trower.

On edit: minor spelling error.
