Shouldn't the SS Minnow just have sank
instead of the lame disablement. I mean a little hole in the side, and the professor who could make a movie projecter with a flashlight and tin cans, or bamboo motor cars, couldn't fix it? Come on just sink it! It would have made a great dive site and tourist attraction but NO, it fell apart and rotted.

1. The "little" hole in the side would have sunk a boat in less then a minute.
An inch and a half hole will sink a boat that size in ten minutes if the hole is foot or more below the waterline.
Loved the show, but I wouldn't try to think it through.

8. "If not for the courage of the fearless crew, the Minnow would be lost..."
Did you even listen to the song?

2. The boat was only designed for a 3-hour cruise
It wasn't adequately seaworthy for the trip back Hawaii. You have to remember that it was a powerful storm that tossed the tiny ship so far.

5. I dunno
The whole accident with that little boat is a somewhat mysterious affair. Couldn't Ginger have somehow kept that thing afloat with her - shall we say - flotation devices??

15. Yup, he knew he'd never have a chance with either of them in the real world
But on a desert Island with two old men and a goof as competition, the nerd can actually make some headway.

25. yes, but
one guy was a geeky screw-up, and the other was a chubby old guy. Compared to those two, the Professor was the Brad Pitt of the island.

26. I had a book written about gilligan's island
and they described the professor as being asexual. It wasn't an official book.

10. Why didn't the professor just build a new boat?
Or at least fix the existing boat?

Even if the motor is broken, just pop a sail on that beast and dip out.

won't give you the opportunity for twists of the plot.
And thickening, too. Don't forget thickening of the plot.

18. It did! There were no survivors.
All the shows were simply the brains of the dying going haywire as all seven drown. That's why they are so surreal. There was no surfer, no nuclear seeds, no jeannie, no communicating with astronauts, no rescue, no Globetrotters. It was death for seven mings.

22. I'm pretty sure it was saved by the smoke monster
and then they found that huge food stash left by the Darma folks and then the time shifted and Gilligan became jack and Marianne turned into Kate and then, well, I'm not sure because I haven't seen season 6 yet.
