Anybody else on teh Longue a regular at the gym?
I go at 3 or 4 days a week, to 15-20 on the treadmill, then pulldowns, and various lifting things and an ab machine.

I just got back from there a few minutes ago.

Any others ?
(We go to Planet Fitness)

1. 4-6 days a week. It's a local gym near our house.
I run, or walk at high incline on the treadmill, use the elliptical, the weight machines, sometimes swim. I was taking yoga but the class schedule changed and I haven't been in awhile. I really miss it. I've taken some Zumba as well, that's really fun.

5. When I saw the class on the schedule I said "I thought those were those weird pants that wrestlers
and body builders wear because they don't fit in regular pants."

It's actually really fun, it's like dancing to latin and world beats but you realize when you're done that you're exhausted!

11. The hour goes by really fast and you don't have to be good to get a good workout.
There are all types of people in the class, so I didn't feel too clumsy.

7. My dear old mark!
Yes! On a good week, I go three times...

Warm up on the recumbent stationary bike, 20 minutes. I do four miles...

Then off for my shoulders/arms...

Then a crunchy machine for my *sob* abs!

And last some leg exercises: extensions and curls.

It's working! I just got on the scale this morning, and I'm down to 146 pounds! :woohoo:

9. Great, Peg! It has been interesting to me how many...uhm..."over 40"
persons are at the gym...One of my wife's friends is over 70 and she is there more often than we are!

This is one thing I never imagined I'd be doing in my retirement, but it is probably one of the best things I can do...I want to live long enough to screw my pension plan for every possible dime!

Glad it is working so well for you!

12. I do.
I go upwards of five days a week. I alternate upper body work and lower body work, with at least 30 minutes of cardio (bike). Twice a week I run, although that activity has severely messed up my knees, so that goes in fits and starts.

13. I'm actually trying to decide how often to go
I do weights in a class, an instructor and music, very challenging. In fact, I went back after a 2 1/2 week lapse (vacations and such), and really hit the lunges and squats hard. I hobbled out, but felt good. Next day I could barely walk. That was Sunday morning, and I'm trying to decide if I should go to a spinning/weights combo class tonight.

I think I've read that if you do weights before your muscles repair it's almost like doing nothing. I work too hard for it not to be effective. Does that make sense? There's so much contradictory info I'm just not sure.

15. Doing weights before the muscle repairs
like "almost doing nothing" has validity, depending on your goals. If you're looking to build muscle/mass, then this is true. Your muscle needs time to rebuild what was torn down during the workout to get bigger/stronger. However if you're lifting weights as part of a fitness/weight loss routine you'll still burn calories and "shape" even without repair.

Working out muscles while they're suffering from DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness, which is what your "barely walk" issue sounds like) has to me always been a bad idea.

18. I don't want to make them bigger, but being in my late 40's
and my metabolism having slowed due to muscle loss, I want to build them in that way, to rev up the metabolism. I can walk easier today, but still fairly sore and the spinning is a hellish class, at least the one instructor I experienced. Tonight is a different person. Tomorrow I won't be able to go, so next day to do weight class or spinning is Thursday, then the next is Sunday morning.

14. 6-7 days a week.
Weights for an hour or so (by bodypart/day) then 30-45 mins of cardio. If I've taken a client to train, I might be at the gym 10 times a week, but I don't mix my workouts in with my training.

So yeah, they see me a lot.

19. Up until June 1 I was going 3-4 days per week. We can take a
Summer Freeze (June July and August off) so this year I took it. To be honest I don't know if I will go back Sept.1, the last 6 weeks weeks I have felt better than I have in years. One thing I have discovered I was overdoing it and needed the rest.
