So, I'm trying my hand at making my own earrings.
And some as gifts for friends. These are my first attempts. What do you think?

2. Thanx, sweet Peg.

These are about an inch and a half long, not very heavy at all, but not super light, either. I'm playing around right now with inexpensive materials for the most part until I decide if I have any luck with this. They aren't as nice as something denbot might make for you, sweetie.

These are made for a friend of mine, if she likes them. I told her I was going to give it a shot and that she could have the first ones.

If/when I get decent at doing this, I will move on to semi-precious stones, maybe. And then I will let you know.

Thank you so much for lending your opinion. It means a lot.

5. Well, the price would be right.
They weren't terribly expensive to make. Like I said, just fiddling around for the time being.

4. Very good job!
Can you add some kind of stay or cap to the end so that the earring can't accidentally come off?

It seems that accidentally losing an earring is not all that uncommon, so having a way to keep a hook from slipping out and falling off would be a good thing.

I don't know if that would be less necessary on hooks as long as you are using. The ones pictures are very long.

6. Thom!
Good to see you! I hope you are doing as well as you can these days.

I do have little clear rubber backers, as a matter of fact on the one really long loop, you can see them just above the top beads. I pushed them all the way there so the beads would stay in place.

14. Love them!
I would definitely buy those. They look very well made and I love the beads you chose. Maybe you should sell them on Etsy.

19. Very nice!
I know french wires are easier to find and are cheaper (a friend has made many pairs of earrings to sell) but I personally prefer the clasp-back (or maybe they're called lever-back). I like it when my earrings are sort of "locked". With french wires, I've found that (at least on me, I could be the exception) the wires sort of scootch up and I have lost earrings that way.

I like your use of silver beads. Would you ever consider mixing silver and gold? I like mixed metals, but that can be tricky ...

In any case, you definitely have a very nice eye for this kind of work! Etsy is one place to sell, but if you get a 'signature' look, you could also try submitting designs to Sundance Catalogue (Robert Redford's company) for big-time sales.

21. Nice job!
Welcome to the highly addicting world of beads. It will gobble your $$$$ and give the satisfaction of making beautiful things. Spoken by one who still has the first bead she ever bought (over 30 years ago & recycled many times). Have fun!

I haven't been around for a few days (internet down at home) and I'm at work so, as much as I would love to, I can't answer all of your nice replies right now.

Really do appreciate everyone's comments. :hi:

You could even specialize in those and be successful. But the other ones are very nice too because of the hanging hearts.

They're very nice! I would definitely buy them.
