I'm sitting here hiding from the heat reading the DU and making doctors appointments (read: waiting for calls and sitting on hold). My oldest son and his Hispanic friend are drinking beers in the back of the house (friends day off) or so I thought. I hear a light toot of a car horn. I get up to see what it is (sometimes people stop at the barn and don't drive up the driveway to the house) and I see several vehicles parked around the old stock trailer. One of them is the shiny red chevy pick up with no bumper belonging to my sons friend. (All the other vehicles around here are beat up pieces of shit and many are abandoned vehicles from this war on migrants.) His last name is Quiroz. He recently moved out of his house and apparently has some lawn bags full of clothes in the back. So I see a bunch of guys standing around shooting the shit and I'm thinking crap there are a bunch of them and I am going to have to feed them all tonight, right? I look for my son who stands out in a crowd at 6' 4" and notice one of the guys is wearing a freaking armored vest. This is the sticks and at first I am trying to place any overly redneck/military type friends of the kids that might be here and no...I realize its the cops or something. Border Patrol.

I walk over to where they can see me and one of them comes up all proud and thinking I am going to be happy to see him. "Howdy Ma'am, how are you today" "What's going on?" "Oh we apprehended some illegal aliens down here on your property" and he points vaguely off down the canyon. "oh yahoo, well what are doing with them?" He says "we are waiting on transport" I look and can see at least 3 vehicles down there "whatever, I really don't want you here on the private property" and I turned away to go get my camera. I come back out and they are fucking HERDING the three Mexicans with their airconditioned vehicles up the road. I saw that two of them were limping and I lost it. I started yelling at them not to make them walk and who knows what else - I was PISSED.

My son came out and went down there I guess to protect them from his hysterical mother and they tried again to proudly point out the great job that at least a half dozen armed jackasses in airconditioned vehicles did CAPTURING three limping guys in the heat of the day. He just said "You aren't going to make them walk are you?"

I'm posting this in the lounge in the hopes that the gd gd (not a SIC - god damned general discussion)law and order asses stay out of it.

I hate this shit. I just hate it. :-(

but the asshole in me wonders what they were thinking about the red chevy:evilgrin:

I was at that time, the only member of the staff who spoke Spanish so I'd "practice my Spanish" on them. Needless to say, I was cursing them out for the imperialist stooges they were and taunting them about if they had their green card with them. When my manager would ask what we were saying (after they left) I'd tell her that we were just discussing beverages...in very heated tones.

I feel for the young guys a little - especially if they are local kids because the truth is it is stupid politics/bad policy and not their fault. And there aren't many decent jobs in this county. But the hard asses...yeah I like to jab at them a little when I can.

it's all rangeland and has an irregular boundary on a map - the fencing isn't anywhere on property lines - that is for livestock control

Out here in the west almost all ranches are a crazy mix of private and "government" leased grazing lands - ours is mostly State Trust land.

Did they ever give the guys a lift? Seems to me they could at least put the guys in back of a truck if they didn't want to allow them the courtesy of air-conditioning.

15. Husband went and looked around - found where they probably caught them

said there were dog tracks on top of lots of boot tracks and scuffle marks - so that green and white marked vehicle was a canine officer. I don't begrudge the dog having airconditioning, but it sickens me they made those three men walk any further than what was likely 3 to 5 days of it already.

18. three to five days

I'm struggling to walk for 40 to 50 minutes a day and cover a mile. Basically for entertainment. They walk to come work. And be looked down on by so many.

I don't have a bug mushy heart - too many don't seem to have one at all.:-(
