10 Great Cities for Raising Families (?)
http://realestate.yahoo.com/promo/10-great-cities-for-raising-families.html

I don't understand why some of these cities were listed as great places to raise kids. Huntsville, AL has a high violent crime rate and the city in WA is near a toxic nuclear waste site. According to wikipedia, it is "the most contaminated nuclear site in the United States".

Are violent crime and toxic waste considered good for building character or something?

Seems like they could have picked some better cities for "raising kids" out of many cities we have in this country.

1. Not only is it near nuclear waste and a lot of it...
the area is somewhat isolated and hot as a pistol in Summer...

2. OK, so we agree---they are just throwing darts at a map to
come up with the hundreds of "great cities for...whatever" stories.

3. That's what it seems like...
This one does even seem to try very hard to get you to like the places. They put the cons right there in the article.

Right on the banks of the mighty Colombia. They shot fireworks from a barge anchored under that bridge in the picture. Yeah, the nuke plant was a collosal fuckup, but now it's only dangerous downwind. Flying out of there was hilarious. We were on a 12 seat plane, and the ticket counter girl also loaded the baggage, took the chocks out of the wheels, and pushed the beverage cart during the flight to Seattle.

and College fucking Station? Really? Crawling with drunken texians. Not in a good way.
