The Shield's Vic Mackey--Hero or Villain?
I realize he shot his own teammate, busts criminals without due process, burned Armadillo's face, etc, but then there's the tireless, balls-to-the-wall protection of children (the series premiere), his family (Coldplay's "Spiderwebs" still makes me ache), the amount of good he actually does (just recently, as he pointed out, he was the only one concerned about keeping the copkiller guns off the streets).

The title of the thread was just to get you to read/reply to this, I realize that he is both. Still, I find myself rooting for the guy most of the time, would certainly take him on my team over, say, Dutchboy anyday if I was in a battle. Which is not to say I won't relish the day Claudette finally takes him down (all Aceveda vs. Vic stuff to the contrary, it is "Peaches" who will get him if anyone does).

Also, anyone else suspicious of Shane's girlfriend?

And, the EW review of this season mentioned that this week or next would show a horrific attack on a main character. Anyone else worried about the throwaway reference to the foot fetish maniac's murder spree in the season premiere and his attraction to the female beat cop's feet last season? Gulp...

2. A fascinating character.
But, if he were on my city's police force, I'd want him fired for his excesses.

I'm glad FX plays re-runs because I always miss the first airing of the new episode.
